Summit Park

We dug this test pit as practice for an Avy II course. Not alot of snow depth here in summit park. We were looking to see if a PWL of facets existed at the ground but did not find it. Instead it looks as though snowmelt prevented that layer from forming and/or any facets were melted and then reconsolidated into an ice layer along the ground. This area was also anchored by brushy vegetation and branches produding from the ground
